COLLABORATE OR PERISH!-THE KEY TO SUCCESS!

Amazon is a huge e-commerce firm, also present in India, but its main strength depends on it’s the many sellers it has retained within its fold. Sharing talents at brainstorming sessions is something that must happen in every firm dreaming of success in the market and sustained growth. The beautiful thing about collaboration—rather than unhealthy competition against a rival leading to attrition within both firms—is the agility and speed of execution and the experience of working directly with independent decision makers.

TOWARDS A BLUE OCEAN MOMENT,EH?

COLLABORATE OR PERISH!-THE KEY TO SUCCESS!

Amazon is a huge e-commerce firm, also present in India, but its main strength depends on it’s the many sellers it has retained within its fold. Uber is another success story and it has its reliable partners in every State. Successful film makers also have wide network of key persons to help them sincerely!

Different teams having different capabilities (as per the need of the potential customers in varied regions and localities) can be structured out of the recruited youth.

This is also true of families that wish to grow, grow and GROW to dizzy heights of prosperity. Families get made or marred by the competence, disinterested passion,  individual verve  and creativity of the man and the woman that are running the show for the eventual benefit of the young ones!

In other words, they are making an investment of time and energy that is sure to yield bumper yields to those that follow them sometime in the future—a future that they themselves might not live long enough to see!!

Parents hopefully must be large hearted enough to let their kids choose mates for themselves, to begin with, across caste, communities and faith, hold regular harmony sessions at home so there is no hostility among the members at any time, ensure 24 hour de-clogged communication channels with every member, abide by and observe the non-negotiable relationship borderlines, and share food together if not a common neutral prayer too.

Both sharing a common prayer format and sharing food at least once a day have Houdini magic within them. Irrespective of individual pressures and strains, all members of such a family tend to stick together in times of contingency or crisis! Cosmetic products are happily shared by all; no obsession with playing superior to others owing to family pedigree gets cultivated ever! No superficial difference maters any more for helping individual vanity.

Skin tints and regional expressions don’t matter.

No one claims that his or her God is better than that of another member too since they all chant a common prayer and consume common food!

For major purchases, surplus money gets pooled and given back later with a smile with no questions asked! Ongoing empowerment of every member means the family becomes strong enough to meet any challenge at any time!

My point is that NO member within such a family unit must feel neglected, ignored, or discriminated against at any moment.

We are dealing with highly emotional vessels aka human beings, mind you!

And we must give due respect to a member however oddly he/she may be dressed so long as she/he is comfortable with it. And pay rapt attention, as wonderful parents, or FILs or MILs to what a member has to say at any time too, listen to distress calls, or SOSes, and offer timely assistance!

This is way to go for a family IF the family is earnest about GROWING and establishing a culture in which no incoming member—SIL or DIL or guest or media person or interested visitor– but experiences nurturing!

All the members as well the parents go on learning and acquiring skills and ideas enough to ,say, a business themselves one day!

Recipes from one members are given to all and wonderful business projects get discussed after lunch or dinner in total privacy and zest!

If one member wishes to turn an entrepreneur, he or she gets instant help from all the others! The parents can freely contribute their view of the matter—true Edward de Bono style of using Six Hats—and this idea may get modified by one member so as to better suit the collective ambition to grow!

Wonderful conversations follow day after day! Brainstorming becomes a habit of the family!

SUCH A FAMILY—breezily inter-caste and inter-faith and inter-State or international– IS BLESSED ENOUGH TO REACH ITS BLUE OCEAN MOMENT AT THE EARLIEST!

BEING SMALL AND SHORT CAN ALSO LEAD TO GREATNESS!

BORN A ‘LIONEL MESSI’? NO MATTER!

BEING SMALL AND SHORT CAN ALSO LEAD TO GREATNESS!

Emperor Napoleon was short in stature but he was a great military strategist and ruler of the French people. A needle is small but it can rival a sword in how it can help us stich a sail! The Lilliputians were short and small of course but, together, they downed Lemuel Gulliver.

It was the vast number of English boats and skiffs that ensured the effective defeat of the globally famous Spanish Armada! In Tirupur—an industrial hub in South India, for your information! – more money gets generated from exports from small hosiery and knitting units than by the huge sprawling ones even today!

In Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, one can get Filigree Jewelry made of woven and braided silver wire-and though these items are intricately worked and are small, they win higher appeal from importers abroad than the heavy chains made by jewelers!

And finally the Bermuda Triangle has under its surface more huge Spanish or Portuguese galleons and multi-storey quinqueremes than fishermen’s boats plying the Azores Sea!

My point is simple: we can never afford to underestimate or ignore the small and nimble in our single minded pursuit of personal or corporate greatness.

Most TBTF (Too Big to Fail) corporate firms make this grievous suicidal mistake. When a firm is too big to be nimbler and resilient enough for a fast changing marketplace, the firm can see the writing on the wall or it must be abler to foresee that.

Also, unlike a small family firm, if ta firm is too leviathan and behemoth, it finds itself having too many employees whom it can’t teach train enough to satisfy a hour-by-changing , impatiently demanding clientele!

Innovations are happening all over the world minute by minute and day by day. Consumers are willing to transform with them too. The firm, if it wishes to grow from strength to strength to a large cap firm one day in the future, owes it to the shareholders at least to change with changing times and trends.

Today NO firm in the business world can wait for years to hire promising youth, impart the needed skill sets and thus train its employees enough to rise to its expectations.

Practically no time is available!

Time was when a product could be conceptualized in a year and then slowly developed within 3-4 years to be ready for the market. But not any longer, sorry!

Advertising agencies also must necessarily imbibe this crucial and critically vital life-and-death lesson for themselves if they wish to play in the market of a fast developing nation like India!

Many joint families have had to taste the bitters –and also constrained to pay a high price for it–as a result of this internal difference of views or opinions or both.

Truly ADAPTIBILITY is the master key to survival!

So let me give you, all readers a tip:

DEVOTE YOUR ACTIVE SERVICE YEARS TO UNENDING LEARNING AND SKILL ACQUISITION!

ACTION ALONE IS AND CAN BE THE ACCEPTABLE SYNONYM FOR HUMAN LIFE AND VICE VERSA!

[This challenge met me eyeball to eyeball when I retired from active service some 16 years ago. And, unlike most of my former colleagues that have taken to a less active Retirement Route,  I took that charging Cape Bull by the horns to master the PC skills necessary for productive online work, to first modify my personal lifestyle ,to orient it towards a “NO Doctor Needed” North Pole destination, once and for all time to come, , to suitably modify my daily diet, to take lessons in finance for M.Tech (Fin.Engg) kids, and turn a passionate investor, plus a reliable source for remaining liberated from lifestyle illnesses, which are often occupational hazards  for the salaried!

Of course God helped me come this far! And I hope to finish my Life Race successfully!]

DID OUR ANCIENT YOGA PRECEPTORS MAKE A MISTAKE PLEASE?

WHAT YOGA ENTHUSIASTS MISSED!

On International Yoga Day across India could be found thousands of yoga enthusiasts, of both genders, who were participating in the many kinds of yoga practice with a rare fervor. Some were standing on their heads in open spaces while many others were doing various yoga asanas with enormous physical difficulty as if they were hell bent to abide by the PM’s call!

EXCELLENT!

In times to come, our present day PM shall be certainly remembered for taking Yoga to the global for carrying it to all global fora and even to the UN of course but then I felt that these aficionados have missed something vital to Yoga practice viz. Diet.

You and I are fully are, aren’t we, that it’s our diet that makes or breaks us in the long run?

Too much guzzling of carbs is bad for the colon and rectum; too much protein intake is bad for our kidneys; too much calcium or iron is also equally bad for our heart. Too much consumption of deep fried oily foods hikes our blood cholesterol content and too much sugary intake is a DM ally!

Let me presume that every Yoga guy or gal is passionate about living a long and productive life. Correct me if I sound a fool on this point! At least this was what I felt at a recent yoga session I attended.

I think any Yoga practitioner must be fully aware of what kind of diet to have before or after he or she practices this Indian contribution the corpus of human knowledge. I don’t have the Vegetarian-Non vegetarian kinds in my mind but the specific food items that he or she must strictly avoid for getting maximum benefit from what /she is practicing with zest.

I would like to seek the help of all professional dieticians in this realm please! That is, IF their mindset is positive and co-operative! If they aren’t, it means that they are just run of the mill, using this knowledge ONLY for making money  and with zero commitment—like most public servants out there across the nation!!

DO REMAIN KNOWLEDGEABLE AND UPDATED!

YOUR IGNORANCE IS WARM CASH FOR CON ARTISTS!

Human ignorance doesn’t discriminate between developing and developed countries, thank God!

That many Americans are blandly ignorant of where a location is on the planet is well acknowledged today. Some US kids say that chocolate milk comes from the Swiss Brown cow. My point is that the vast Pacific of ignorance is lapping at our shores- and inside our homes too day in and day out.

Our real challenge all through our life journey is, in my eye, to remain somewhat knowledgeable, unaffected by all this furiously drummed up ignorance and nonsense!

Not only individuals but also governments can be misled. Recall Ramar Petrol Manufacturing technique from fresh green leaves? How much money that con artist made by cheating the Tamils and others in this manner is anyone’s guess today.

The hidden secret was the ‘stick’ used to stir the pot at times during its time on the stove; it was actually a tube that was filled to the brim with toluene!

Here in Trivandrum there is a house named VIRUS, believe it or not. It a posh residence costing about 5 crores and it belongs to someone that sold a fake ‘drug’ for AIDS! So many hundreds were taken in by that guy!

Ignorance of the potential user or customer gets easily exploited by such crafty and cunning persons. You may recall what I told you sometime back—of how I went to many banks asking for information about SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) and how I got deceived by an ICICI Pru Life Insurance branch with a snail-pace growth policy under the pretext of the scheme being both a SIP and an MF, while the reality was it was neither!

Tamil Nadu is adjacent to my home State but there the men and women have a tendency to blindly deity film stars.Or they had till recently, when one of their favorite CMs –an erstwhile film artiste from Karnataka–passed way.

The State, though bountiful agri-wise,  is noted for its rampant pro-Bribery mindset.Dowry convention is accepted .Much injustice is done to both kids and old persons without the community or the mass media feeling any hue and cry!

A lot of money changes hands during election season and the habit of giving or receiving unearned amounts is not viewed as anti-nation at all!

The CM I referred to  had , by way of her personal earnings, bribes, as well as contributions to her party amassed such a lot of assets that the High court in Karnataka was astounded some time ago.

She founded a party ,which invoked a magical smoke screen for the people. After her demise the party split into two and now legal proceedings have started against the CM himself as well as some ministers!

Again a case of how the lack of discerning ability –call it simplicity if you will- is used to amass personal wealth with minimum effort!

Admitted that in the course of our otherwise harried lives across India we can’t get to know in detail about everything but then it’s imperative that you and I remain permanently on guard against being pick-pocketed in this apparently honorable manner!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

I AM AN INVESTOR TOO, DEARS!

A BANKER’S HORIZON AND BEYOND!

What follows is an eye-opening lesson I learned last year after I got edified by one of my bosom friends at CAPSTOCKS here in Trivandrum by name Narayanan Ramakrishna Iyer.

At most 7.5% (for Senior Citizen fixed deposits!) is what any bank can offer you for your hard earned money, and that precisely comprises the distant horizon that they point to you when you accost them and seek advice on where to park your money.

Is there any horizon farther that promises the investor far higher-as much as 223% in some cases–a year?

Yes, there is! It’s the RAINBOW HORIZON!

It’s the MF and Stocks Horizon!

It can generate enough wealth for you that you wont believe it!

Unfortunately in India the MF industry and the stock market became really regulated and failure proof only around 2000 AD after the Harshad Mehta bubble!

By that…
