“Just 12 takers for Ambedkar Coins” screams the ET (Economic Times)! The report adds that 34 lakh worth coins are lying unwanted. These coins are for Rs 125 and Rs 10 denominations. Rs 125 was decided upon merely to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.

1000 envelopes contains one coin each for these denominations were initially got minted and bought for re-sale. The sale price of each envelope was Rs 3480/-

988 envelopes are unsold and only 12 have found takers.
